The love of drawing & painting has been there as long as I can remember. Being a self-taught "artist" my awe & wonder at the works of such giants as Vermeer, Velazquez & Canada's own Frederick Varley, as well as illustrators such as Bernie Fuchs, Norman Rockwell, Rober McGinnis and Frank Frazetta, to name a few, fueled my interest in being able to tell a story or a thought with line & brush as opposed to the written word. Sports has played a big role in my life, allowing a young boy to escape his world for one where he becomes Dr. J, Bjorn Borg or Ken Dryden, if even just for a fleeting moment-and I suppose those fleeting moments are what I try to capture in much of my work. As I go further down this path, it has slowly dawned on me that all I am really doing is chasing light, and frustratingly trying to share that interpretation of how light hits form on a piece of canvas.
